The best addition is the one you cannot spot from the street. Adding space to an existing home is structurally and architecturally demanding: foundations must carry new loads, rooflines must resolve cleanly, and new construction has to meet old construction without a visible seam. This is precise work, and it is work we love.
We build every type of addition — ground-floor extensions that open the back of a house to the garden, second-storey additions that double a bungalow’s footprint upward, and full third-storey additions where zoning allows. Each starts with a structural and zoning assessment, because an addition that cannot be approved or safely carried is not a design, it is a sketch.
As with everything we build, the addition is delivered end to end: design, engineering, permits, structure, envelope, and interior finishing that makes the new space feel like it was always there.

Additions & Extensions — FAQs
Is it cheaper to add up or add out?
It depends on your lot and foundation. Building out requires new foundation work but keeps structure simple; building up avoids losing yard space but often requires reinforcing the existing structure. We assess both against your zoning limits and give you a real comparison before you commit.
Can my house support a second storey?
Many GTA bungalows can, but it must be verified — foundation, footings, and framing all need review by a structural engineer, which we coordinate as part of the design phase. Where reinforcement is needed, we price it up front rather than discovering it mid-build.
Will we have to move out during the addition?
For ground-floor extensions, usually not. For second- and third-storey additions the roof comes off, so most families relocate for the core structural phase — typically a few months. We sequence the work to keep that window as short as possible.
